About the Ohakune Bread School
The Ohakune Bread School offers friendly personal tuition in the craft of bread-making in beautiful natural surroundings adjacent to the World Heritage Tongariro National Park. Our courses have something for everyone, - children, families, novices and enthusiasts of all ages. We offer day courses, family courses and all-inclusive week-end 'bacations'!
The Ohakune Bread School is run by Simon Tupman. Simon (pictured left) developed a keen interest in bread-making just a few years ago. Then, in 2015, he attended an artisan bread-making course at the School of Artisan Food in the UK under the tutelage of award-winning artisan baker Emmanuel Hadjiandreou (pictured right). That stirred his interest even further.
He has since discovered the joys of baking a range of natural breads, free of preservatives, for family and friends from the home he shares with his partner, author Susan Adams. Now, through the Ohakune Bread School, he shares his passion with other enthusiasts keen to perfect the art of baking real, healthy bread. The Ohakune Bread school is a supporter of The Real Bread Campaign, a project of Sustain: the alliance for better food and farming. |
